HZCU Creative Team Creates Original Mural for Spokane HOPE

SPOKANE, WA – The creative team at Horizon Credit Union got to step away from its well-known brand and create a unique mural for the kids and parents of Spokane HOPE, an organization that helps deaf and hard-of-hearing kids learn to listen and speak.

Founded in 2004, Spokane HOPE believes all children who are deaf or hard of hearing have the right to reach their full potential, pursue their dreams, and thrive in school, their community, and life.

The creative team came up with a space theme, to show the kids they can shoot for the stars and reach their dreams.  The mural was hand painted in one day by Jessica Walker, graphic designer; Makayla Sotin, graphic designer; Kyle Cossairt, graphic designer II and Steven Langford, senior graphic designer / creative lead with painting assists by Sammy Rich, copywriter and Jessica Leonard, social media supervisor.

“This was a special opportunity for our creative team to give back in a unique way that helps beautify the center, the local community and gave them a chance to really show off their exceptional talents.  We have amazingly talented artists on our team!” said Kimberly La Liberte, visual communications manager.

The mural is mounted outside the Spokane HOPE center 1821 E Sprague Ave in Spokane Washington.  The project was part of a KXLY Extreme Team community outreach event to expand the HOPE Center to provide the kids and teachers with more space to enhance their learning.  In addition to the mural, Horizon Go-Givers (volunteers) were on site all week cleaning, painting and more to help with the renovation.

The KXLY Extreme Team, sponsored by Horizon Credit Union, is to dedicated to making a difference in the local communities of eastern Washington and north Idaho.  The Extreme Team partnership, and all Horizon community outreach efforts, are led by Kathleen Schilb, community engagement manager.
